Yet again - trying to get back into the swing...

A reasonably productive Memorial Day

Looking left

Here's one I started working on yesterday.

I feel like I'm getting a lot closer to what I'm trying to do.

New Painting

I started work on a new painting yesterday.

More works in progress

My first landscape in a long long time:

New paintings

I think these two are finished:

I'm still working on these:

Oil painting update

Spent some time at my father's place on Wednesday night. He helped me block this out a lot better. I'm excited to work on it more.

New Oil (work in progress)

Started this painting the other day - it's based on a couple of poses that came from playing with the Scribbler

The Scribbler

A while ago Ze Frank created this fun flash app called The Scribbler. At first it seemed like just a fun toy, but I'm now thinking that it can actually be a very useful artist's tool. It can be used to get an idea of where your strengths and weaknesses are in quick sketches. I also think that the sketches it produces could be useful foundations for paintings or other larger works. Here are some quick ones I made using Pose Maniacs images as models.

Here's my very poor attempt at translating a couple of these into watercolor. I think i'll try again this weekend with oils.

Oil paintings (update)

Here's an update on the three oil paintings I started the other day

They're all pretty dark - the pictures came out lighter than they actually are .

First try at oils in a long time...

These are all works in progress:

The colors are a little funny on the photo, but then again, the colors are a little funny in real life too.
Her arm was totally in the wrong place - I'll probably bring the wall in a bit

Self portrait based on the sketch from the other day (couldn't find a good mirror).
